Meta is introducing new verification rules for advertisers who want to target people in Singapore. These changes are being made to comply with Singapore’s Online Criminal Harms Act (OCHA) Code of Practice for E-commerce Services. The goal is to make advertising on Facebook more transparent and secure.
Advertisers will have from early April to the end of June 2025 to complete this new verification process. Here’s what you need to know:
Key Requirements for Advertisers
- Verify the Ad’s Beneficiary and Payer
Before running ads in Singapore, advertisers must confirm who benefits from the ad and who is paying for it. If you already have a verified business portfolio, you might not need to go through this step. - Include Verified Information in Ads
All ads targeting people in Singapore must now display the name of the person or organization funding or benefiting from the ad. This information will appear in the ad’s details and in Facebook’s Ad Library. When setting up an ad, advertisers will need to provide this verified information.
When Will These Changes Take Effect?
The verification process will start in early April 2025, with most advertisers being able to access it by early May. If you are running ads targeting Singapore, Meta encourages you to complete the verification process as soon as you receive a notification in your Ads Manager.
